This is not a tree in two regards: Firstly I never intended to paint a tree. I just wanted a solid brown striped column to be in the middle, surrounded by freely painted moving brushstr

okes in green. Secondly in the sense of Magritte (Remember: "This is not a pipe") it is not possible to paint a tree! You could only create a two dimesional something that might look like a tree, but at the latest, if you'll touch it, you'll realize: This is not a tree!
